Abstract

Article: 1 The texts of articles (11/ second paragraph, and 12/ second paragraph) of Law No. 143 of the Year 1981 On Dessert Lands, shall be replaced with the following texts: Article (11/ Second Paragraph): In other than the cases of obtainment by the investor of the lands necessary for practicing or expanding his activity, as per the provisions of the present law or the investment law promulgated by law no. 72 of the year 2017, the Egyptians’ ownership shall not be less than (51%) of the company capital and the individual’s ownership shall not exceed (20%) of its capital. The lands of the cooperative societies and companies may not devolve, upon their dissolution, to non-Egyptians. Article (12/ Second Paragraph): In other than the cases of obtainment by the investor of the lands necessary for practicing or expanding his activity, as per the provisions of the present law or the aforesaid investment law, only Egyptians shall benefit from ownership according to the present law. Yet, holders of Arab nationalities may receive the same treatment prescribed in the present law for Egyptians by virtue of a decree of the president of the Republic for reasons he deems appropriate, and after getting the approval of the cabinet.
